Children’s Fishing Rodeo

Posted on by

The Children’s Fishing Rodeo is held annually located below the nursery in Esther Run. Trout is stocked on the morning of the event. The event is opened to children age 12 and under. There is no cost to attend the event. Participants are responsible for their own fishing tackle and bait. Some popular baits are PowerBait, mealworms, earthworms and corn. Registration begins at 10:00 am and fishing begins at 12:00 pm. From 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm participants must keep the fish they catch. The limit during this period is 3 trout (combined species). This allows other children that may be arriving later a chance to fish. After 3:00 pm fishing is continued but you are not required to keep the fish you catch. Children that caught their limit of 3 trout earlier may return to fish. Adults can provide assistance by casting the line for the child, baiting the hook and removing caught fish but the child must do the actual fishing by having control of the fishing pole and land the fish. Adults do not need a fishing license to assist their child at the event. All Pa. Fish and Boat regulations should be obeyed. The daily limit of trout is 5 (combined species).

The location of the event is Esther Run from the bridge on Corner Rd downstream approximately 4/10 of a mile.
